The playstation is one of the greater old school systems. but when the playstaion came out in its newer model the ps1 they still made games for it. For instance i have a madden 2004 game for the ps1. but you cant go out and buy the games for an n64 whats up with that. what im trying to say is why did they stop makin games for the n64 but not the ps1. besides the fact they come frrom diffrent companies.

Good question.  To answer this you should know the history of the market.  When the PSX came out it was an answer to the scattered market.  Sony offered stability while all the other consoles were trying to hitch onto 64bit or CD Rom technology.  One reason Sony supports the Playstation in such a way is because that is what their target market was looking for... a system they wouldn't have to replace every 2 years.  Sega was killing everybody with their periphials and systems that had only 8 games in their library (CDX, 32X, Sega CD, Saturn).  Nintendo entered the market late with the hopes of a quality over quantity strategy panning out for them... which it did to an extent.  So the answer to your question is somewhere in there and you can decide on the reasons behind this problem.  I was a huge fan of the N64 personally, but the PSX was my simple machine to have some fun and I knew my friends would have the system/games also...

my reason to belive is that:

A. cartridge games are very expensive to make, and obsolete. I also belive this because n64 or sega was the last make to have cartrigdes. and a mod for the n64 would be no good, all my friends haven't played it in ages.

B. the file format for n64 is long lost, only god knows where it went

C. most game devolpers are in it for the markets, as 18weapons mentioned, and that the market for n64 has long since died out, and PS1 is gone now, mainly beucase of it's lack of power. at some point, if a console has no classics, like goldeneye, it's doomed.

Although I believe that cartridges are obsolete, you'r statement, Omnious, is not true. Many people, including me, still dust off the 64 for some massive schoolage in goldeneye, o brawlers such as Wretlemania 2000. Star Fox 64 was a game that has never been able to be re-made, and the only place to play this great game is the 64. It is obsolete, yes, but it is still a great system with great games.

star fox 64 is one of the few n64 games where i enjoyed the single player ever more than the multi player... those missions were fine tuned, scripted explosions and bosses, and action packed!  i would dust off the n64 quicker for this game because you're right in that is was not made quite like this ever again.... goldeneye was out done a million times, but the sinlge player in that was also revolutionary

Although Goldeneye was bested, no Bond game has since captured James better. Third person is not Be Bond. it is Be the Guy Who Follows Bond Around. Bond's finest hour, atleast to me was goldeneye, because of how well the missions that didn't appear in the movie seamed in with the ones that actually appeared made you feel like you were playing an uncut version of the film. One thing that I don't understand is how on earth Perfect Dark is considered a classic and a groundbreaker. Created After Goldeneye, it had much fewer weapons, a much more confusing conquest, and horrid graphics, even when based off of an expansion pack.

Simple enough, perfect dark had a gun that could shoot people through walls!  It's like a hackers dream!
