Gentlemen.  Farcry patch 1.3 is out, as is the (drumroll.....) Farcry linux dedicated server.

Both are now available in the Downloads section at Jedimom.com.

I'm busy wetting myself.  More news after I have things set up.

That is all.

Just in time for HL2 release . . . now we have to have 2 servers . . . CS Source and Far Cry . . .

That shouldn't be a problem...  I'll need to test out the farcry server anyway and see how the resource usage is.  I know that CS:Source servers use about the same processing power, but about 30-50% more memory than the CS 1.6 servers.  Bandwidth usage on the two is fairly similar.

There might be a delay in getting the FarCry linux server up and running.  It requires a very new version of thte libstdc++ libraries.  Normally the best way to upgrade these is to install the newest GCC compiler, but I need to verify compatibility with other critical apps on the server before I do that.  In the meantime I plan on checking out the 1.3 patch.  Word.

Its a really nice, very pretty game.  But I'd go with HL2 first.  More game options with HL.

I do prefer the outdoor jungle-setting for the deathmatch games in Farcry over the indoor bathroom HL2:DM games though.

I prefer indoor bathroom fighting for obvious prison related reasons.

LOL....  agreed - FarCry's outdoor environment add a lot more free-action for attacking and surprising folks.

But, from a gameplay standpoint, HL2 beats it hands down.

I'd probably sum it up by saying that in FarCry you get to be Rambo.  In HL2 you get to be Robocop.  In CS:Source you get to be exactly the same guy you were in CS.

But the graphics and physics of HL2 are just amazing.
