had my nephew over last night and he is apparently becoming a video game buff.  The wii tv was occupied because we were watching football so I set him up at the upstairs tv with some of the old consoles N64 and SNES.  He actually played a bunch of the games and only came and got me when he didn't understand what to do.  i had forgotten how old-school games relied on you being able to read so much... seems the games of old are generally more difficult because the gaming user interface has just come so far... I mean with a wii you just point and click... and the systems usually talk to you now-a-days...  funniest part was when the game locked up in super mario world and i told him 'you may want to save your progress occasionally so it doesn't get lost...'  and he's like 'what is "save"?'  haha... i didn't even explain it and just put in another game.

overall i'd say the games that held up the best graphically were the platform side-scrollers.  these games looked awesome still... and i have them hooked up to a 32" CRT so The Mystical Ninja and Super Mario 64 just looked so fresh.  Unfortunately couldn't get the Top-loader NES rolling because of some wiring difficulties but maybe next year when he visits he'll be ready to "Play with Power"!!! (thundering boom!)"

Me and the kids have been playing Super Mario Bros. on the Wii with the classic controller.  Aydan (7) loves it, she is *amazed* at how good I am.  Hehe, I love it when it's easy to amaze your kids.

Up next, original Zelda, Ocarina of Time, and Super Mario 64.  They love it and those games are like $5. word
