I've been having a devil of a time getting some gaming on lately.  This mainly due to my (now 3 1/2 year old) laptop wireless connection sproradically crapping out.

Initially, the laptop started hanging randomly - completely failing to respond to any input, except for mouse cursor movement.  I thought, erroneously, that the hard drive was going south, so I bought a new one.  That didn't make a difference.  Then I noticed that the hangups always seemed to occur when I was doing network related activity.  I pulled the internal wifi card, and the PC stopped hanging, so I knew it was either the card or the mini-pci slot causing the trouble.

I picked up a used wifi card off ebay for $20 and popped it in.  The hanging has since stopped, but now I lose the wifi connection every hour or so.  It's an improvement, since the PC doesn't require a hard power cycle to come back, but it's annoying as heck.  (Filling out an entire NFL Pro-Bowl ballot and losing connection when you hit submit is really, really annoying).

Anyway I wanna game, but I'm convinced I'm gonna drop connection at the most inopportune moment.  On the flip side I do have a bigger laptop hard drive so i can install more games.  Maybe I should just be done with it and buy a USB or PCMCIA wifi card to see if that clears things up.

*sigh*

sigh is right buddy.  I'm still gaming on my aging PC, but I have a bad feeling it is going to need some updating love sometime soon.  The CPU fan is making airplane sounds, and I bought a replacement fan for that.  Luckily trying to get unlocks on MarioKart Wii has been keeping me busy.

Still playing CounterStrike occasionally and booted up Battlefield 2 over the weekend.  That was surprisingly fun.  Dave (JohnnyBravo) is going to be hosting a LAN on Nov. 15 and we will have 6+ people playing BF2, so I'm trying to get back in shape.  My gaming hours are pretty much non-existent though, usually trying to squeeze in an hour of play at about 11pm.

Yeah i am pretty much unable to ever game with you guys due to time diference Sad  I start playing around 10 or 11 here which is 12 or 1 for you guys.  So, since i don't have anyone to play with really i have reverted to the 360 and call of duty

And when diablo 3 does come out i am sure my computer will need some tweaking but it shouldn't be too bad.  Add another vid card and some ram and i should be good to go

Maybe i can free up a night or two a week to dedicate to gaming so i can hook it up with you guys

i refuse to play FPS games on a console by myself... without a mouse & kb it just makes the whole experience suck.  the only way I can justify the pain of using a milkbone is during a LAN or if i had a bunch of friends online and couldn't resist.  i may have finally regained some energy as Tucker is beginning to sleep for longer sessions so i may be staying up a lil later to play...

Any of you guys going to try and join us for BF2 party on Nov. 15?  We hope to be online playing at 3:00 pm or so, and play until whenever.
