Over the course of a 24 hour period that began at 2:00 AM GMT June 10th, the Eve Online world has been changing dramatically.
News reports from around New Eden are indicating that hostilities have erupted throughout the galaxy. The Gallente have invaded Caldari space, and the Caldari in response declared war. Tribes of Minmitar rebels, intent on freeing slaves from Ammar space have invaded Ammatar and Ammar systems, resulting in thousands of destroyed ships. CONCORD has begun in earnest to attempt to bring order back to the systems it controls, but the damage has been done. Faction war has come to Eve Online, and the Empire will never be the same.
This update has been handled in probably the coolest way I've ever seen in an MMO, with lots of news reports being posted at the above link throughout the day. It's played as though an ongoing event is happening in real time, all leading up to the server, and this new expansion, opening this evening. I'm stoked.
