JB wanted to play BF2 this saturday.. not sure where at but if any of you want to log on and play i will probably be around for this as well.  i think i need some practice at this game though...

hmm, I just received an invite to go play BF2 Friday night at his house via old school LAN party, but I think we'll be on the net as well.

I'm planning on going if we can juggle the home schedule.

that game is so huge though, how could you play a game with less than like 20 people at least?

i would think that 10 people would be the bare minimum... but then again 8 might even be fun on some of the ground only maps.  well if you guys are on let me know what server and i'll join ya... played some with monkey this weekend and i still don't like how choppy the game is and easily you die to assault rifles as opposed to sniper rifles, but whatever...

If the game's choppy then either your settings or your latency are too high.  It runs pretty smooth for me.   Maybe scale back on some of your background programs...

I'll try to be there this friday PM, too.  I think there's something going on that night, but I should be free later in the evening.

As for game balance, the sniper rifles are deadly - but you have to hit the guy in the head.  It's hard to do with great accuracy at distance.  Also, it works better when you've  unlocked the upgraded sniper rifle.

i'm not talking about hardware... i just mean the game in general in comparison to the smooth feel that i prefer in games like counter-strike and unreal.  bf1942 always had this problem too so i had a hard time getting used to aiming.  the frames of animation are just not as predictable as i'd like them to be so i can't pwn faces as quickly as i do in these other games.  i might have to actually learn something new... which is getting more difficult.  but since i might play this a little more often i guess i'll go grab that flight stick from the attic so i can fly a plane or two.

so i read up on a ton of strategy and tips for bf2 and plugged in my flight stick last night... tweaked the settings and practiced piloting the jet and choppers...  the gfx aren't as smooth as i'd like them but that's just cause the maps are huge... the tips i read will help me make best use of the environment though and i've decided to take a little interest in getting better at this game so that is a good sign.  looking forward to fri/sat or whatever

hmm, i don't have a decent flight stick, but I guess I'll plug in my sidewinder and see if I can get that to work decently.  I've never really been able to do well piloting stuff in these games.

ok so i practiced this some with monkey.  i think my flying skills need more work though i am having fun flying the stuff without anyone else on the server.  when you add in those ace pilots who wax me right when i spawn it's a tad more difficult... for them!! (to not kill me)...  anyhoo i think i still need more practice but it was nice playing a medic some last night... usually i'm nothing but an assault class

My best class is Medic and I usually play that all the time, if I'm not playing anti-tank.  Medics usually have great cover positions, their rifle isn't too bad, and it's awesome to hear them saying "You're gonna be alright soldier"

But, I'm such a noob at this game.  I don't know how to go prone, chat to team or anyone, switch squads.  Hopefully I get some training on Friday night from the Bailey experts.

ok so i practiced flying helicopters and jets last night for about 4 hours.  finally logged onto a server and ended up with a score of -10, 1 kill, and 20 deaths.  that's pretty 1337 if you ask me.  the one kill was from killing a guy who actually managed to make it onto the aircraft carrier and was trying to steal one of our jets.  also, i'm surprised they didn't ban me after i ran a jet into a transport copter with 4 guys in it and TKed all of them.  could it be any more difficult to pilot these things.
